This June, the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) Field Trip chose Landscape Workshop’s Birmingham branch to host their annual field trip. This is a national event that takes place annually and draws in landscape companies from across the United States.

The NALP only picks the best of the best in landscaping companies to host this event. Most recently held in Atlanta at Russell, the Field Trip takes place in large cities all over the US.

So why Landscape Workshop?

Landscape Workshop is a full-service grounds management company serving the Southeast. It started in Birmingham 40 years ago and is now one of the leading landscape companies in the country.

“Landscape Workshop is known in the landscaping industry for their rapid growth, made possible by the scalable systems they have in place. We chose Landscape Workshop as our tour host for 2024 so that other landscape professionals could learn from their systems and find ways to grow their own companies.”

3 of Landscape Workshop’s best-known projects

You might have seen some of Landscape Workshop’s projects across the area.

We got the scoop on three that are known for their eye-catching appeal. Here’s a look:

1. Pepper Place

Pepper Place is one of my favorite spots to eat, drink and shop in Birmingham. Not to mention, The Farmers Market at Pepper Place is a must-attend every Saturday morning.

Part of its charm is its gorgeous flowers and greenery.

You can thank Landscape Workshop for this—they’ve been behind Pepper Place’s beauty for more than five years.

Their dedicated crew visits the space every week to tend to the assortment of floral beds and boxes, manicure the iconic ivy adorning the facade of the Little Professor Bookshop and more.

2. The Summit

When you visit The Summit off Highway 280, you’ll notice its green, plant-happy entrance and always-in-season flowers, bushes and trees dotting its many storefronts and streets.

A big reason for this beauty is Landscape Workshop, which has partnered with The Summit since it opened in 1997.

What does it take to meet the landscape needs of a place like The Summit?

The answer is round-the-clock action and maintenance year-round.

Some of the work required includes:

  • Overnight watering of seasonal color (aka, flowers)
  • Landscape maintenance along with solutions for landscape issues, enhancements, irrigation + seasonal color
  • Sweeping + pressure washing sidewalks

Fun fact: The Summit is home to over 250 flower pots, which Landscape Workshop maintains by hand-watering them and changing them out seasonally.

Landscape Workshop has also won national awards and recognition for their work at The Summit.

3. Rosemary Beach

Love to travel to the beach? The next time you visit, you can expect the area to be more gorgeous than ever before.

Why? Because Landscape Workshop partnered with Rosemary Beach this year to help enhance the landscape throughout its Emerald Coast communities.

This includes hotels, event venues, the town center and more.
