What’s new + coming soon in The Magic City—including a new amphitheater

Summertime means there’s all kinds of new happenings in The Magic City. Here’s a sneak peek at some new businesses and projects coming soon around the Birmingham area.

1. Birmingham Tattoo Company | Avondale

A new tattoo parlor is coming to Avondale. Birmingham Tattoo Company has announced that they will be opening sometime in June, in the former home of Sanctum Tattoos & Comics on 4th Ave S.

According to its website, the shop will specialize in custom, pre-designed, bold, delicate and fine line tattooing.

2. Birmingham Amphitheater | Druid Hills

One of the most highly-anticipated projects in town is the upcoming Birmingham Amphitheater. Last Monday, June 3, the BJCC officially broke ground on the venue and event space.

Located in Birmingham’s Druid Hills neighborhood, it will be an outdoor venue for concerts, festivals, special events and more. 

3. Rêve

Bon appetite! Chef Jacob Stull has launched a new pop-up French dining experience in Birmingham, Rêve. The concept for Rêve is a reservation-only tasting menu held on Sundays and Thursdays.

Guests have the option between a five-course menu for $100, or a 10-course menu for $150. Each Rêve experience is held in one of several host restaurants in downtown Birmingham and seats no more than 20 guests a night.

4. Wharf Casual Seafood | Moody

Seafood lovers rejoice! Wharf Casual Seafood restaurant is set to open in Moody this July. Known for its cajun-inspired seafood dishes, the menu features items like fried crab claws, po-boys and shrimp and grits.
