Our 12th annual backyard BBQ competition and festival; fun for the entire family! There will be live music, face painting, kids workshop, and moon bounces. Teams compete for the best BBQ and bragging rights. Event attendees get all-you-can-eat samples of the best chicken, beef brisket, ribs, sauce, and pork butt in town!

Friends of Emmet O’Neal Library Book Sale

For more than 50 years, the Friends of the Emmet O’Neal Library have supported the library through its annual book sale, with proceeds benefitting the library’s adult and teen programs.  This year’s sale will begin Feb. 20 with a preview party and will continue with a general sale Feb 21-23.  From a child’s favorite picture book, a current bestseller, or a rare signed first edition – you never know what you’ll discover.  Patrons contributing a minimum of $25 (payable at the door) may attend the Preview Party on Thursday, February 20th from 6-8 pm.   At the Preview Party you’ll get first crack at the 10,000 volumes available during the sale,
including beautiful art and coffee table books, collectible items, and rare titles.  On Sunday, the final day of the sale, books will be half price upstairs and $15 per bag in the basement.

Singing Santa’s Arrival Celebration

Bring the family for a fun-filled night of activities at Brookwood Village to kick off the holiday season. This classic celebration will highlight the arrival of Singing Santa, a Birmingham tradition. The event will take place near the Food Court and will feature several family-friendly activities, including face painting, balloon twisting, glitter tattoo fairies, characters from Disney’s Frozen and Toy Story, arts and crafts and special musical performances. Following his arrival at 6:30, Santa will be available for visits and photos daily through Christmas Eve.

Moos For Meals: A Barnyard Benefit For Hungry Children. Tickets on sale now for $15! Venmo @MoosForMeals to buy tickets or donate! Come out for a day of fun including hayrides, pumpkin painting, petting zoo, corn crib, barbeque, face painting and MORE! The event is at Tuscaloosa Barnyard on Oct. 27th from 2-6 PM. This event is to support Secret Meals For Hungry Children, a Tuscaloosa nonprofit that provides food to children over the weekend who do not have access to enough food or nutritional options during the school year. 1 in 4 children in West Alabama suffers from food insecurity and it only takes $140 to feed a child every weekend for a whole school year. You can help make that happen!
