Processing Specialist, Priority Veteran

Responsibilities

Provides administrative support for program serving homeless or at-risk veterans and their families. Assists with reviewing and submitting purchase orders and processing payments. Works closely with Finance and Program Manager.

  • Review Temporary Financial Assistance (TFA) documentation for completeness and accuracy
  • Compile and submit TFA purchase order requests in Microix software in a timely manner
  • Track hotel stays for homeless clients when no shelter is available, submit purchase orders and renew reservations
  • Reviews Emergency Housing Assistance submissions for completeness and accuracy and submits purchase order requests through Microix
  • Ensure TFA payments are accurately entered in Service Point
  • Serve as liaison between UWCA Finance/Accounts Payable and Priority Veteran program staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skills

  • Background in financial administration, payment processing, or clerical work
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong computer skills: experience with MS Suite required; knowledge of Citrix and/or other financial management systems a plus
  • Good communication skills and ability to problem-solve collaboratively
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently to process a large volume of time-sensitive payments
  • Commitment to the mission of Priority Veteran

Education/ Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, finance, business management, or related field preferred
  • Combination of education and experience considered

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment
  • Occasional after-hours and weekend work

Requirements

  • Must meet and maintain eligibility requirements to be insured by UWCA’s insurance
  • Valid Alabama driver’s license
  • Reliable transportation
  • Proof of automobile insurance commensurate with State law
  • Cell phone
  • Background checks to include but not limited to criminal record, drug screen, and TB test
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Travel required
