Position Summary
The MOW Kitchen Manager is responsible for managing daily kitchen operations, includingsupervision of kitchen aids, SCSEP members, and kitchen volunteers. The Kitchen Manager also delivers meals to drop sites as well as occasional delivery to recipient homes.
Responsibilities
- Oversee Meals on Wheels kitchen volunteers and SCSEP staff
- Regularly assess stock of kitchen supplies and food and work with MOW Coordinator to order any necessary supplies or food
- Serve as final check to ensure the correct number of meals are packed for each route
- Report any undelivered food or food delivery issues (ie meal shortages by vendor, late deliveries, food that does not meet food safety requirements, etc.) to Operations Coordinator
- Clean and maintain kitchen and delivery equipment
- Adhere to County and ADSS food handling guidelines
- Adhere to protocol for communicating client issues or emergencies
- Assist in meal preparation and delivery
- Ensure MOW kitchen is organized and maintained in a clean, safe, and working condition
- Ensure staff, SCSEP workers, or volunteers working in kitchen have Food Safety Certification Certificate on file
Other
- Other duties as assigned
- Maintain current Food Safety Certification for Jefferson County Health Department
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills
- Must have a pleasant demeanor and customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of clients, volunteers and co-workers.
- Ability to read maps and follow directions
- * Must be functionally and demonstrably proficient in the use of mapping software or apps, such as Google Maps©
- * Must be able to use agency case management and routing software to drive route and communicate non-emergent route/client issues
Education:
High school education or GED
Experience:
1-2 years driving experience preferred
Working Conditions:
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Safely and confidently navigate various weather conditions and/or areas of Jefferson County
- Must be comfortable driving van or other delivery vehicle
Other:
- Valid Alabama driver’s license
- Reliable transportation
- Proof of automobile insurance commensurate with State law
- Background checks to include but not limited to criminal record, drug screen, and TB test
- Cell phone (smart phone) required
