Responsibilities:
- Provide the highest level of service to major donors
- Support the Major Gifts department by assisting with prospecting, correspondence, events and day-to-day operational aspects.
- Continuously improving efficiency and responsiveness of Major Gifts department to our customers.
- Manage Major Gifts database and coordinate with Major Gifts department and Finance to maintain and ensure accuracy of information
- Participate in “thank you” calls to members
- Attend leadership events as needed
- Organize and develop an appropriate volunteer structure to achieve goal objectives.
- Participate in the recruiting, organizing and training of volunteers.
- Prospect for both new and existing donors who are able to increase their current level of giving.
- Regularly interact and communicate with the Legacy Gifts Division to achieve coordination of activities.
- Regularly interact and communicate with the Annual Campaign staff to achieve coordination of activities.
- The point person in Major Gifts to regularly interact and communicate with the Finance staff to achieve coordination of activities.
- Prepare required campaign reports and shares strategies with other United Ways.
- Coordinate the organization and maintenance of current donor files for Tocqueville.
- Act as United Way representative at various community functions and on appropriate committees.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the community’s economic and social forces as they pertain to the stability and growth of the Major Gifts Division.

Knowledge & Skills:
Ability to successfully interact with the community’s major donors. Proficiency in written and
oral communications. Possess the ability to develop and implement reporting procedures to streamline departmental work. Experience and relationships with high potential businesses and individuals in targeted growth areas for new member cultivation, especially in companies, law firms, etc. (professional division). Advanced knowledge and proficiency in database management utilization.
Education:
Undergraduate degree required
Experience:
Two to five years of successful fund-raising experience with United Way or other fund-raising
Organization preferred. Major donor experience preferred. Experience with fundraising software and databases
Required:
Reliable transportation, proof of automobile insurance and valid driver’s license
Working Conditions:
Normal office environment, some travel and occasional overtime
