TYB Presents: Super Special Story Time with Christian Robinson at the BPL!

Yes, you read that correctly! THE Caldecott Honoree of many of your favorite picture books and ours–that Christian Robinson! We are thrilled to co-host him at the Birmingham Public Library for a super special story time, where he’ll be sharing his brand new book DAD, a big-hearted love letter to all kinds of dads, animal and human, and the special bonds they all share.

Please note that this is a ticketed event, and there are TWO ticket options available. Click on “Select a Ticket” below to choose one! Please read all information carefully!

Select FAMILY TICKET for admission to the event for up to four (4) people. This ticket costs 30.00 and comes with a copy of DAD. You can pick up your copy of the book at the event, or at the shop prior to the event. Please indicate at checkout, in the “instructions or comments” field, how many people are in your party.

Select SINGLE TICKET for admission to the event for one ticket. This ticket costs 8.00 and does not come with a copy of DAD.

There are no physical tickets, please select ELECTRONIC TICKET at checkout.

A Q&A and signing will follow story time, and copies of DAD, as well as a selection of Robinson’s other books, will be for sale. Priority in the signing line will be given to those with purchased copies of DAD.

This event takes place at the Main Branch of the BPL downtown: 2100 Park Place, Birmingham, 35203, in the Grand Reading Room. Seating will be first-come, first serve. We are so grateful for our ongoing partnership with the Birmingham Public Library!

Christian Robinson is an illustrator, author, animator, and designer based in Oakland, California. He was born in Los Angeles and grew up in a small one-bedroom apartment with his brother, two cousins, aunt and grandmother. Drawing became a way to make space for himself and to create the kind of world he wanted to see. He studied animation at the California Institute of the Arts and would later work with the Sesame Workshop and Pixar Animation Studios before becoming an illustrator of books for children. The Christian Robinson for Target collection, released in August 2021, includes more than 70 items across home and apparel for kids and baby. His books include the #1 New York Times bestseller Last Stop on Market Street, written by Matt de la Peña, which was awarded a Caldecott Honor, a Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honor, and the Newbery Medal, and the #1 New York Times bestseller The Bench, written by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex. His solo projects include Another, which was named a New York Times Best Illustrated Book of 2019, and the New York Times bestseller You Matter. His latest collaboration with Matt de la Peña, Milo Imagines The World, received six starred reviews and was a #1 Indie Bestseller and a New York Times bestseller. His collaboration with poet Amanda Gorman, Something, Someday, was a #1 New York Times bestseller. His illustrations for Nina: A Story of Nina Simone, written by Traci Todd, were recognized with a Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honor in 2022.
