rom Steel to Stage: The History of Theatre in Birmingham

74dd9efe 3834 5a89 8578 0c40f430d193 rom Steel to Stage: The History of Theatre in BirminghamDelve into how theatre shaped Birmingham from its earliest days as a rough industrial town to its transformation into a cultural hub. In the early 20th century, Birmingham’s leaders recognized that the arts were essential for establishing the city as a destination and for softening its industrial image. The formation of theatres large and small played a pivotal role in shaping Birmingham’s identity. Today, Birmingham’s vibrant arts scene stands as a testament to this rich legacy.

Featuring artifacts, photos, and stories from our collection as well as material from the collections of Red Mountain Theatre, Birmingham Children’s Theatre, UAB Archives, and more, this exhibit will reflect how the creativity and vision of the past continue to inspire the thriving arts and cultural scene we enjoy today.

Attire: Cocktail or Business Casual
