Putting the Pieces Together – Training for Child-welfare Professional, Adoptive and Foster Parents

November 21, 2024 @ 9:00 am - 4:30 pm

Putting the Pieces Together – Training for Child-welfare Professional, Adoptive and Foster Parents

This full-day (5.5 hours) training is FREE to parents and Alabama DHR staff. All other professionals seeking certification will be charged a fee of $55.00 for this NBCC approved training. TTN will assist social workers, mental health professionals, and residential/foster care/relative care providers in putting the pieces together more efficiently and effectively to serve the children and families in Alabama.

During the training, we will address the definition, impact, and intervention strategies connected with the three key concepts of Permanency and Loss, Trauma, and Mental Health Treatment, all through a culturally informed lens. Key points of intersection among these three concepts will be identified to help participants understand how their roles are critical to the increased safety, cultural connectedness, and well-being of the children and families we serve.

To engage you, the adult learner, and maximize your transfer of learning, we will utilize interactive small and large-group discussions, short videos, small group exercises, and brief didactic lectures.

Training Objectives:
Through this training, participants will:
1. Identify culturally appropriate and trauma-informed mental health diagnoses for our clients.
2. Identify culturally appropriate and trauma-informed psychiatric and therapy options for our clients.
3. Identify collaborative intervention opportunities to address the needs of both our clients and our staff/providers/caregivers.
