Inspired by Native American and African designs, Alabama ceramist Larry Allen delicately carves designs onto the surface of his wheel-thrown vessels in a process known as “sgraffito.†A selection of Allen’s intricately embellished pottery will be on display in the Lobby Gallery at the Central Library from December 2024 through February of 2025. This exhibition is made possible by a grant from the Alabama Council on the Arts, awarded to the Friends Foundation of BPL.
