JUNIOR LEAGUE OF BIRMINGHAM’S SHOP SAVE & SHARE

October 16, 2024 - October 27, 2024

19th annual Shop Save & Share fundraiser will take place Wednesday, Oct. 16 through Sunday, Oct. 27. The 12-day event provides shoppers with up to 20 percent off and/or exclusive offers at 300 participating businesses with the purchase of a Shop Save & Share card. All proceeds from card sales benefit the JLB’s 24 community projects, impacting hundreds of lives in our community. With the goal of benefiting businesses in various Birmingham communities as well as our community projects, the JLB is encouraging shoppers to purchase a card in support of local businesses and the JLB’s continued impact in the community.

From Hoover to Trussville, to Homewood, Mountain Brook, Vestavia and Mt. Laurel, Shop Save & Share features premier and locally owned retailers such as Alabama Outdoors, Diamond’s Direct, The Lili Pad, Monograms Plus, Bromberg’s, Parent-Teacher Store, Anthropologie, HaMi, and Jack n’Jill Shop. Cardholders can also shop at restaurants, entertainment venues and more, like Taco Mama, Taziki’s, Mountain Brook Creamery, New York Butcher Shoppe, Otey’s Tavern, the Birmingham Zoo, Birmingham Children’s Theatre, among numerous others. Shoppers can purchase a $40 Shop Save & Share card at shopsaveandshare.net

“I truly get excited each year for The Junior League of Birmingham’s Shop Save & Share event,” said JLB Shop Save & Share Chair Danielle Whitlock. “We are able to raise funds for our 24 community partners while supporting local businesses and helping shoppers save money. I cannot think of a better or more fun way to help improve the lives of the people in our community and help build a stronger Birmingham. I am proud to be a small part of something with such an incredible impact.”

For the past 18 years, Shop Save & Share has raised more than $780,000 for the JLB’s community projects. The JLB’s 24 community projects for 2024-2025 focus on four impact areas: Advancing Education & Culture, Improving Health & Well-being, Mitigating Crisis & Promoting Safety, and Overcoming Poverty & Financial Instability. Among the 24 partners and programs are Grace Klein Community: Food Delivery and Assistance, ¡HICA!: ESL Classes for Hispanic Applicants for Naturalization, Vineyard Family Services: Backpack Buddies, Cornerstone Schools of Alabama: Taking Steps for Success, Girls Inc.: Teen Leadership, Community Food Bank of Central Alabama: Mobile Food Pantry, Children’s of Alabama: Family Fun Times, Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center: Forging a Community, YWCA: Healthy Relationships, Mothers’ Milk Bank of Alabama: Nourish Alabama Babies, Junior League of Birmingham: Anti-Human Trafficking Program, and others.

Just one purchase of a $40 Shop Save & Share card can help provide the following:

  • 240 meals via food boxes from the Tarrant Mobile Food Pantry in partnership with the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama
  • Food to feed 50 people for one day through Grace Klein Community
  • A ride to a doctor’s appointment for Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center clients

“At ¡HICA!, we are grateful for our partnership with the Junior League of Birmingham,” said ¡HICA! Development and Communications Director Silvia Espinosa Laxon. “This collaboration highlights our shared commitment to breaking down barriers and creating new opportunities. By empowering immigrants through English language education, we are both dedicated to supporting their growth and success in our community.”

“The Shop Save & Share fundraiser is more than just a shopping event,” said JLB President Jessica Hopper. “By purchasing a discount card, you’re not only saving money but also supporting local businesses and investing in the future of our community. Together, we are building a better Birmingham.”

To kick off the festivities, the JLB is hosting a Shop Save & Share Kickoff Party on Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. in front of Mountain Brook City Hall. The event will feature small bites, drinks, music, and swag bag giveaways for the first 25 attendees. The JLB will also have cards for sale at the event.

In addition to the traditional 20 percent discount provided by most, some retailers may choose to offer a free menu item or other special offer for cardholders instead. For those interested in shopping from the comfort of their home, select retailers will provide online shopping codes to allow patrons to participate in whatever medium they choose. Cardholders should check the official guide on the website for details on each retailer and their offer.
