In “Free Spirit,” award-winning bartender and host Kate Gerwin takes to the road and meets people in their workplaces and their favorite watering holes.
From learning how to play a “dainty,” an old German street game in Louisville to visiting with a Birmingham artist-in-residence at a former blast furnace, Gerwin goes off the beaten track to learn about the history and culture of every city. Along the way, she samples local brews and signature drinks—both alcoholic and non-alcoholic—from dive bars to high-end cocktail bars and talks shop with the distillers, tastemakers, and fellow mixologists. At the end of every episode, Gerwin creates a drink celebrating each city—a homage to both creativity and community.
