FINAL WEEKEND OF SUMMER’S LAST ROAR

For the final weekend in July, the Birmingham Zoo is hosting “Summer’s Last Roar Weekends,” where everyone can pay and play like a kid. The discount admission of $12.95 will be offered to everyone on July 27 and 28. The restaurants at the Birmingham Zoo will offer food and drink specials on each of those days, including free souvenir fountain drink refills, $1 off bags of popcorn, plus specials on sauced and tossed chicken tenders. For special Sunday Fun Day deals on July 28, guests can purchase a $5 wristband for unlimited rides on the Red Diamond Express and unlimited climbs on the Full Moon Bar-B-Que Adventure Tower.

“From seeing the new baby animals (Mopane “Mo-Paw-Nee” the giraffe and the baby howler monkey) to watching the elephants, orangutans, bears, snakes, lion and jaguar, the Birmingham Zoo has hundreds of animals to admire,” said Chris Pfefferkorn, President and CEO.  “For hands on experiences, feed the lorikeets and giraffes, then head to Alabama Wilds’ contact yard for goat and sheep interactions. The hourly zookeeper chats are exciting, interactive, and educational,” he said. “In addition to magnificent animals, we have something special for kids of all ages, including splash pads, a train, and the climbing tower.
