Join the ASO for a close-up concert at the historic Carver Theater. This program features stunning works by Gabriel Fauré, Antonio Vivaldi, and Maurice Ravel, all of which highlight the ASO’s fantastic wind players.

First, Fauré’s Pelléas et Mélisande Suite, Op. 80 vividly renders Maurice Maeterlinck’s famous story of doomed lovers with lush, dreamy orchestral textures.

Next, ASO principal bassoon Tariq Masri performs Vivaldi’s virtuosic Bassoon Concerto in C Major, RV 475.

The program concludes with Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin (The Grave of Couperin). Written as an homage to French Baroque composer François Couperin, and to 18th-century French music in general, Ravel’s beloved work blends his signature impressionist techniques with the characteristic sounds of the renaissance and baroque eras to create a florid work which seamlessly ties together nearly 300 years of French orchestral tradition.
