In this class students will learn how to safely and correctly operate the smelting furnace with the opportunity to pour their own mold in molten Aluminum. Students will be tasked to make an impression of a pre determined

“flat backed” item using a petro bonded silica clay. The class will cover mold construction, foundry terminology, safety procedures, and proper handling of molten material.

This class builds off of ring casting class but is not as detailed oriented. If you are looking to challenge your skills in mold making then I suggest taking sterling silver ring casting as a follow up to this class. Ring casting is

not

required to continue to bronze casting.
