BAMA DIY/BYO Concert

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Birmingham Art Music Alliance (BAMA) will present its upcoming DIY/BYO Concert on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in Hulsey Recital Hall at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Admission is free and open to the public.

The DIY/BYO Concert showcases original works by local composers and performers, offering audiences an opportunity to experience newly created art music in a variety of contemporary styles and mediums, including solo performance, chamber music, and electroacoustic works.

The concert will feature Eloquence IV by Lori Ardovino, performed by the composer on E-flat clarinet; The World Continues Without You by Holland Hopson, for fixed media; Obsidian Curves by UAB Professor of Music William Price, performed by UAB Assistant Professor of Clarinet Sarah Manasreh-Decker; Foraging for Oracles by Krystal J. Folkestad, performed by violist LaTannia Ellerbe; Tropes and Archetypes by William Price, for fixed media; and Aves by Lori Ardovino, performed by Lori Ardovino, clarinet, and Rick Ardovino, saxophone.

The Birmingham Art Music Alliance is an autonomous nonprofit organization with the twofold mission of promoting music by Alabama composers and presenting concerts of recently created art music to communities in Birmingham and beyond. Members include local composers, professional performers, students, and enthusiasts who wish to preserve and maintain the long tradition of music as a living art form.

The concert will take place in Hulsey Recital Hall, located on the first floor of UAB’s Hulsey Center. Admission is free, and all are welcome to attend.
