AWA Class Series: Turn a Wooden Sphere

Description:

The Wooden Sphere is an appealing item which can be made from practically any type of wood and which is both visually interesting and feels good in the hand. A collection of spheres makes a very attractive display. This session will give participants a chance to turn a Wooden Sphere as demonstrated in our morning meeting. AWA will provide blanks and tools, but participants are also encouraged to bring their own tools.

About the Instructor:

Beau Bunn is a very experienced teacher and demonstrator. He has led many week-long workshops at The John C. Campbell Folk School on a variety of topics. He previously served in leadership positions at the woodturning club in Raleigh, NC. He currently lives in Cottondale, AL.

This class is part of the monthly Alabama Woodturners Association Class Series. Dues paying AWA members can attend this class free of charge, however registration is required. Please enter the AWA code at registration and contact classes@redmountainmakers.org with any issues. This class is open to the public. Participants should attend the morning meeting to see the demonstration and learn the techniques. The meeting is at

What to wear

: You must dress safely and appropriately. Arrive for class in long pants, and closed-toe, closed-heel shoes with socks that protect up to the ankle. Long sleeves should be avoided if possible and rolled up if necessary. Long hair must be tied back and dangly necklaces, earrings or other accessories shall be removed before starting the class. Additional protective gear will be provided as needed. Masks may be required depending on circumstances.
