A Royal Affair: Wedgwood’s Persian Odyssey

Join Hina Zaidi, our Curatorial Assistant, as she illuminates the fascinating story of a dinner service crafted by renowned pottery firm Wedgwood, created specifically for Persian Shah Fath Ali by the East India Company. This talk will journey through the historical, political, and artistic implications of this extraordinary exchange, revealing a captivating intersection of British craftsmanship, diplomatic relations, and Persian royalty.
Reinvigorated for the 2023-2024 season, Art & Conversation gathers art enthusiasts in a relaxed environment to explore diverse art-related topics. These thought-provoking sessions are now held every other month on select Wednesdays and allow for a deeper dive into the world of art beyond our collections and exhibitions. Join us before each talk at 10:30am in our Cafe to enjoy coffee and light snacks courtesy of Juniper at the Museum, our new cafe partners. The lecture begins at 11am in our auditorium.
