The Takeout, the popular national foodie digital publication, has named Golden Age Wine the best wine bar in Alabama.

If you haven’t grabbed a glass here yet, now’s your sign.

Golden Age Wine Birmingham earns praise from The Takeout

Located in downtown Birmingham and Mountain Brook, Golden Age Wine is known for its vast collection of wines, delectable charcuterie boards and relaxed atmosphere.

This is not the first time the popular wine bar has garnered national attention. In 2022, the Mountain Brook spot, which is a combined bottle shop and bar, was a James Beard Award for Outstanding Wine Program semifinalist.

For folks unfamiliar with the James Beard Awards, the annual award is universally described as the “Oscars” in the culinary world.

Mayor Graham Smith of Mountain Brook credited Golden Age Wine owners Brandon Loper and Trent Stewart for their success.

“We are so proud to have Golden Age Wine named best wine bar in the state! Brandon and Trent have built a strong business centered on curated wines that you don’t see everywhere, a trendy aesthetic and sleek interior and warm customer service. We see how they won this important honor and are proud to have them as part of the fabric of Mountain Brook.” — Mayor Graham Smith, Mountain Brook
