1. Antiques at the Gardens

• What: Join the Friends of Birmingham Botanical Gardens in celebrating the 20th anniversary of Antiques at the Gardens, Birmingham Botanical Gardens’ largest fundraising event of the year where visitors can shop antique furniture, fine art, decor and textiles and learn from accomplished designers.

2. 53rd Birmingham Greek Food Festival

• What: The Greek Food Festival is one of Birmingham’s most beloved and iconic annual festivals, bringing Greek culture, music, dance and food to the Holy Trinity + Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral on the weekend of October 1-3. Fan-favorite eats include gyros, pastichio (Greek lasagna), baklava and loukoumathes (Greek donuts).

3. Alabama Ballet: American Portraits

• What: Celebrating the 45th anniversary season of the Alabama Ballet, the production of American Portraits will take viewers on an emotional journey with choreography that reflects themes of faith, resilience and renewal.

4. Appalachian Heritage Series classes: Quilting + Corn Husk Dolls

• What: Join Oak Mountain State Park for the Appalachian Heritage Series celebrating the rich culture and history of the Appalachian region. Immerse yourself in the art, stories and music that feel like home with the series of craft classes happening through the month of October, starting with a beginners quilting class and corn husk doll creation.

5. Special Equestrians Charity Golf Classic

• What: Grab your clubs for the 20th annual Special Equestrians Charity Golf Classic, encouraging some friendly competition while supporting horse-assisted therapy programs for people with disabilities. Players can expect a beautiful day of golf, breakfast and lunch provided and multiple opportunities to win fun prizes.

6. June Coffee Latte Art Throwdown

• What: June Coffee is hosting a latte art throwdown and competitors have the chance to win a fancy espresso machine and grinder, plus premium June swag. In addition to the competition, there will be music by DJ Garyrandynewman, food from Vicente Food Truck and drinks from Alabama Light. A portion of proceeds will go toward local cat adoption shelter Katdadde Inc.

8. Behind the Mask: Día de los Muertos art exhibition opening

9. Cash Money + No Limit Tour

• What: On Friday, October 2, the BJCC is offering a rare chance to see two iconic Southern hip-hop crews—No Limit Soldiers and Cash Money Millionaires—on one stage for a single night. This throwback-heavy night will feature some of the biggest names in the genre, including Birdman, Master P, Juvenile, Mannie Fresh, Silkk the Shocker, B.G., Mia X and special guest Lil Boosie.

10. UAB Solar House Tour

• What: UAB’s Solar House and Sustainable Community encourage visitors to get inspired by energy efficient design and green practices at the free National Solar Tour, happening October 3. Tour the house and gardens, meet local experts and community representatives, get free native plant seeds and make a dog toy with recycled materials with the Greater Birmingham Humane Society.

11. Native Plant Sale, Ruffner Mountain

• What: Every Saturday in the month of October, you can add to the beauty and biodiversity of your home by visiting the native plant sale at Ruffner Mountain State Park. 12. UAB Blazers Football
