The Picklr Birmingham in Vestavia Hills shutters Sept. 27

The Picklr Birmingham, the popular indoor pickleball hub in Vestavia Hills, is closing on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
Located at 1031 Montgomery Hwy within the former Sprouts grocery store, the facility—the national franchise’s first in Alabama—lasted just a year and a half.
The Picklr invites public to play one last time
Ross English, The Picklr’s Club Coordinator, told Bham Now that the ownership group of the building sold it to another owner.
“We were pleased with the community that we built, and we loved all the players and all members that supported us. We hope we will see them elsewhere on the courts around town. If people want to come by and play before Sunday, we would love that!”

It appears the sale of the building is only going to impact The Picklr, according to the local eateries that spoke to Bham Now.
Other indoor pickleball options in Birmingham-area
With the Vestavia Hills location closing, the only Picklr left in Alabama is in Huntsville.
The good news? In the past year, two indoor pickleball facilities have opened in the Birmingham metro area:

- Pickle & Pour in Crestwood
