The Jemison in Mountain Brook among new $1M+ building permits

This past week, more than 20 new building permits were issued across Alabama for construction projects exceeding $1 million. These permits included projects in the Huntsville and Tuscaloosa metros, Rainbow City and several in the Birmingham metro.

Three of these new permits exceeded $10 million, including one for The Jemison, a new senior living community slated for Mountain Brook.

What is The Jemison?

The Jemison is a 162-unit luxury community for residents 55+ that will offer independent living, assisted living and memory care residences on four acres located at 2900 Cahaba Road in Mountain Brook.

Designed for a variety of retirees with diverse needs, The Jemison will have no shortage of luxury amenities:

  • Spa with massage services and full-service hair and nail salon
  • Indoor heated pool and hot tub
  • Fitness center designed for individual and group wellness
  • Outdoor spaces featuring firepit, dog park and landscaped seating areas with outdoor dining
  • On-site physical, speech and occupational therapy
  • 18-hole putting course and bocce and croquet lawn
  • On-site storage
  • EV charging stations
  • Valet parking and secure under-building parking
  • Concierge on duty 24/7
  • Full-service bar, RJ’s, serving as a central gathering space
  • Gentlemen’s and ladies’ clubrooms
  • Library
  • Media screening room and creative arts studio
  • Multiple dining venues, including fine dining with white-tablecloth service, casual dining and Ariail’s Bistro
  • Al fresco dining areas

The Jemison is expected to be complete in Fall 2027. Birmingham-based Dominion Partners is the project developer.
