U.S. Steel invests $475M into Fairfield Tubular Operations

A major new investment at U.S. Steel’s Fairfield Tubular Operations is set to expand its ability to produce heat-treated steel products used in energy markets across the country. Today, U.S. Steel approved roughly $475 million in funding for the installation of a state-of-the-art Quench & Tempering (Q&T) Line at Fairfield Tubular Operations.
Fairfield Tubular Operations lands $475M investment from U.S. Steel

Located in west Jefferson County, Fairfield Tubular Operations is a U.S. Steel-operated plant that manufactures seamless tubular products from raw steel billets. According to U.S. Steel, the new Quench & Tempering (Q&T) line will be a major upgrade that will expand the plant’s ability to produce heat-treated steel products used in the energy sector.

In addition to the Q&T line, Fairfield Tubular Opertaions’ facilities will undergo several significant improvements, including enhanced employee areaas and a new cutting-edge training center than utilizes virtual reality for workforce training.
