How well did Birmingham native and investor in the Birmingham Legion Chris Richards play in his first World Cup game against Paraguay?

According to Legion GM and Head Coach Jay Heaps, the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) stalwart effort was one for the ages. The team’s central defender completed a perfect 83 out of 83 passes.

“Chris’s perfect passing performance is exceptional because of the number attempted and completed. As a defender, he also has more passes over distance that can be intercepted or errant.  At this level, at the World Cup, it is on par with a perfect game in baseball or a QB going 50 for 50 in a playoff game. “

Richard’s shattered the previous record of 71 passes that was set in the 2022 World Cup by England’s John Stones against France.

In addition to his record-setting performance, more importantly the Birmingham native anchored the American defense leading the team to a 4-1 victory.
