A new local banking option is officially headed to Hoover. First Financial Bank, a community institution headquartered in Bessemer, is currently renovating a new branch at 1560 Montgomery Highway.

According to city permit records, an $1.8 million commercial renovation permit was issued for the building in February 2026.

The upcoming location will mark the bank’s ninth branch in Central Alabama, expanding its current footprint across Jefferson, Shelby, Bibb and Tuscaloosa counties. First Financial Bank has been operating in the region since 1937, managing nearly $250 million in assets.

What to expect

The new branch has an estimated opening date between August and September, according to Enjoy Hoover.

The full-service branch will occupy the first floor of the 9,876-square-foot building, which sits near the high-traffic intersection of Montgomery Highway and Old Columbiana Highway.

The location will offer:

  • Traditional deposit account transactions + openings
  • Consumer + commercial lending services
  • Safe deposit boxes
  • Drive-thru service + an interactive teller machine (ITM)

According to the bank’s website, First Financial Bank is currently accepting applications for all positions at the upcoming Hoover branch ahead of the opening.
