Summer movies: 6 places to watch in Birmingham

Summer in Birmingham means a lot of things: The sun is shining, native flowers are blooming, school is out and the weather is…warm.
When the sun goes down and it starts to cool down, movie nights with family and friends are a fun way to spend the season. Lucky for us, there are neighborhoods across Birmingham that are joining the fun. Keep reading for outdoor movie series, free screenings and more happening throughout June and July.
1. Summer movie nights at Trussville Entertainment District

Trussville Entertainment District hosts Tuesday movie nights at Ferus Artison Ales, and they’re free! The tradition happens every Tuesday throughout June and July.

2. Moonlight Movies at Vestavia City Center

You and the fam can enjoy a summer movie under the stars at Vestavia City Center. Complimentary popcorn and drinks are available.
Tip: Bring a blanket or chairs.

3. Movies on the Mountain at Vulcan Park & Museum

Break out the lawn chairs and shake out those picnic blankets, because Movies on the Mountain is back at Vulcan Park & Museum for a summer movie night with one of the best views in town.

Tip: Parking is included in your ticket fee, but rideshare or carpooling are encouraged due to limited space.
4. Summer Screen Scene movie series in Irondale
There are two more chances to catch the City of Irondale’s Summer Screen Scene series. There’s free popcorn, hotdogs and more community fun. Sign me up!

5. Tuesday movies at Chelsea Community Center
Chelsea Public Library hosts movies on select Tuesdays this June and July. They’ll provide the popcorn, but bring your own drink!
Plus, indoor movie screening means a nice break from the summer heat.

6. Summer Friday films at the Alabama Theatre
Summer Friday Films are back at the Alabama Theatre this July! All seating is first come, first served, and all shows begin with a sing-along accompanied by the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ.

- July 17: The Princess Bride
- July 24: Steel Magnolias
- When: Doors open at 6PM, show starts at 7PM
