On Saturday, June 20, teams from Alabama, Texas and Oklahoma will compete in SMOKE: A Celebration of Fire and Flavor. Led by Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q’s pitmaster Chris Lily, Team Alabama is debuting in the national competition to highlight our state’s famous barbecue!

The main event, and where Birmingham can shine, is during Masters of the Flavor: Barbecue Showdown. Texas may be known for it’s barbecue, but Alabama can hold its own—pit masters from SAW’s, Rusty’s and Automatic, with the guidance of Chris Lily, are going to prove it.

Team Alabama:

  • Michael Brandon, SAW’s BBQ
  • Jonathan “Rusty” Tucker, Rusty’s Bar-B-Q
  • Lauren Hirschberg, Automatic Seafood and Oysters

Want to cheer on Alabama chefs? The Masters of the Flavor competition tickets are on sale. And, throughout the whole weekend, you can taste from top restaurants across the region, enjoy craft cocktails, live music and a fireworks show to end the weekend.

  • When: Saturday, June 20 | 5:30-9:30PM
