New 24-hour diner coming to Five Points South this summer
Reading time: 3 minutes

A new diner is coming to Birmingham’s Five Points South neighborhood this summer! Located between Ocean and Dobber’s Five Points Pub, the upcoming Karma’s Kitchen will offer late night fare, early morning bites and everything in-between.
We spoke with owner Dan Williams to learn more about his latest addition to Five Points South.
Karma’s Kitchen bringing affordable, family-friendly fare to Five Points South

Located on the slopes of Red Mountain, Five Points South is one of Birmingham’s oldest, yet most vibrant, districts. The neighborhood hosts some of Birmingham’s most popular events—the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade springs to mind—and is home to an eclectic variety of bars, restaurants and other attractions.
However, the area has had a need for late-night food since the closure of Marty’s PM, a beloved late-night spot that closed its doors in 2024 after 31 years in Five Points South.
Enter Karma’s Kitchen—the latest concept from Dan Williams, the owner of two Five Points South establishments: Dave’s Pub and Nowhere Tattoos. Named after Dan’s daughter, Karma’s Kitchen has a simple goal: good food, fast service and prices people can afford.
“This is going to be a place where people can get a good meal cheap. Eggs, hash browns, toast, biscuit and gravy and coffee for under $10—that’s what we’re talking about.”
Dan Williams, Karma’s Kitchen
Located in the former 5 Point Public House & Oyster Bar space at 1210 20th Street South, Suite 100, Karma’s Kitchen will be open 24 hours. During the daytime and evening hours, Karma’s Kitchen will focus on families, students and non-drinkers looking for a casual hangout spot in Five Points South; after midnight, the diner will shift into a late-night concept designed to serve people leaving nearby bars and music venues.
While Dan is still finalizing the menu at Karma’s Kitchen, he promises a quintessential diner feel with a focus on classic diner foods.
“We’re not trying to be pretentious or overly themed. It’s just a diner. A place where you can get eggs and pancakes.”
Dan Williams, Karma’s Kitchen
According to Dan, Karma’s Kitchen is aiming to open its doors by mid-July.
