Cala Coffee’s newest location is now open in Mountain Brook Village, and it has something to offer that is unlike the coffee shop’s other two locations.

The owners, husband-wife duo Josh and Melanie Cosio, announced in late 2025 that they would open a third location in the former location of Suite Dreams, a custom bedding and home decor store that closed its doors in 2024. The shop is located at 2409 Montevallo Road.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new Mountain Brook hangout spot.

New Cala location now open

Mountain Brook Village’s Cala has everything that regulars have come to expect from its sister locations:

  • Pastries from Bandit Pâtisserie
  • Breakfast tacos from Ladybird Taco
  • Cala’s original coffee roasts
  • Cala merch

The new location has a cozier vibe than the shops in Cahaba Heights and Downtown Birmingham, offering two separate spaces with a variety of seating options.

“I think a big difference about this location is it’s going to be very walkable and accessible for the people in Mountain Brook Village, and that will be really exciting.”

Cala’s soft opening took place Thursday, May 21, but the shop will hold a more official grand opening Friday, May 22, giving folks plenty of opportunities to welcome the shop to the community.

“It’s been very, very awesome seeing this all come together, and we’re excited for the new community of people it will bring in. A new storefront gets our name out there and lets people learn more about coffee, and overall, we’re all about creating good days.”
