After nine years at Good People Brewing Co., beloved local radio station Birmingham Mountain Radio (BMR) is moving to a brand-new studio at Lakeview Marina. We met with the BMR team to learn more about their move.

Lakeview Marina, the multi-tenant office and retail redevelopment in Birmingham’s Lakeview district, has continued to evolve as a hub for local music since it first opened its doors in 2025. The new development is home to local record store Seasick Records and the High Dive HiFi Lounge, and recently added a new outdoor music venue dubbed Lakeview Marina Music Park.

It’s no surprise that Lakeview Marina caught the eye of the folks at Birmingham Mountain Radio.

“Long story short, we’ve wanted to be close Seasick Records for a long, long time. We had a wonderful conversation with Bart Stephens, and discovered that there was an opportunity here for the next step for Birmingham Mountain Radio.

Jeff Clanton, General Manager/Partner, Birmingham Mountain Radio

Founded by Jeff Clanton, Geno Pearson and Jeremy Harper in 2010, BMR is a beloved local radio station broadcasting over the air on FM 107.3. Known for its “adult album alternative” format, BMR highlights both national and local/regional music through its long-running radio shows like The Morning Blend with Will and Reg.

For the past nine years, BMR has broadcast out of a studio space at Good People Brewing Co. in Parkside. Now, the station is gearing up for a big move.

“When we moved to Good People in 2016, it was the right time for us in our journey. Now it’s the right time for us to move to Lakeview Marina. We’re just happy to be doing what we do after 16 years!

Good People has been unbelievably kind to us and we absolutely adore them; we’ll continue to partner with Good People for the rest of our lives.”

Aside from convenient access to haircuts at the next-door Birmingham Classic Cuts, the BMR team is most excited about exploring new opportunities with its future neighbors.

“When bands come through town, they can do record signings at Seasick, play live on the air with us and then perform a show at the Lakeview Marina Music Park—all in one stop. It’s a dream come true, not just for us, but for record labels and bands as well.”

Although BMR’s future studio will be slightly smaller than its current space at Good People Brewing Co., the new studio will have glass walls opening up into Lakeview Marina that allow visitors to watch the broadcast live. That’s not all—when BMR has bands play live in the studio, they’ll be able to open the doors to that big hallway and allow listeners to become a live studio audience for the performance.

BMR’s future studio at Lakeview Marina will be built out over the next couple of months, with an anticipated opening in late Summer 2026.

“We started BMR because we love this city and we want to make it a better place. The night that they hosted their first show at Lakeviw Marina Music Park, I sent Bart a text that said, ‘You made Birmingham a better place tonight. Everything in this development makes the city a better place to live in.'”
