City of Irondale’s new gateway designs

First impressions matter, and Irondale is about to make one you won’t forget. Mayor James D. Stewart, Jr. caught people’s attention last summer when he revealed plans for bold new gateway features (aka new city entry signage) across the city.
This year, those plans come to life at three key spots:
- 16th Street & Crestwood Boulevard
- The roundabout at Cahaba Crossing
- Grants Mill Road exit off I-459

Updates include city branding, fresh landscaping and artistic touches that give each gateway its own personality.
Clean up during Irondale’s Spring Trash Amnesty Weeks

Spring Trash Amnesty Weeks are an easy way for Irondale residents to help the city stay fresh and welcoming.
Organized by the city’s Public Works Department, this initiative allows residents to place large items, yard debris and small construction materials curbside during their designated collection week. It’s a simple and effective way to declutter while contributing to a cleaner community overall.

Beacon Park’s fresh look

Another major investment is coming to Beacon Park, one of Irondale’s most popular gathering spots. With help from two grants and support from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama and the City of Irondale, the park is getting a full refresh.
Improvements include:
- A brand-new, wider + fully ADA-accessible walking track
- A state-of-the-art FitnessCourt® designed for all ages + fitness levels
- New playground, pickleball courts + restrooms

Beacon Park is already home to picnic pavilions and community favorites like outdoor movie nights and lively jazz concerts, but with new updates underway, the park will be an even better hub for connection, wellness and fun.
