Inside Mountain Brook’s newest dining experience—Sea Bar is now open
Reading time: 3 minutes

Birmingham’s food scene just got even more exciting with the opening of Sea Bar—a new concept from Revival Restaurant Group, the Atlanta-based collective behind the adjacent Little Betty Steak Bar.
The new seafood-driven restaurant and bar draws inspiration from coastal Italy and Japan through world-class ingredients, and Bham Now got a first taste at the menu. Read on to check out our favorite plates.
Meet Sea Bar

Located at 1011 Jemison Ln, Sea Bar sits right next to Little Betty. Inside, it feels elegant and intimate, with subtle coastal touches that nod to the menu: gold seashell sconces, beachy wallpaper and a stunning mirrored bar anchoring the space.
If Little Betty is the bold, glamorous older sibling, Sea Bar feels like the effortlessly stylish one—lighter, brighter and quietly confident.
Sea Bar’s menu was developed by Executive Chef Kyle Biddy, a Southern native and the chef behind your favorite dishes at Little Betty.
The menu leans heavily into freshness, with seafood at the center and thoughtful nods to Japanese cuisine throughout. Sushi, nigiri and crispy rice appear alongside oysters and crudo, creating a lineup that feels both classic and contemporary.
Our menu favorites

This menu was right up my alley, and I knew exactly how to start my meal: a dozen Aunt Dotty oysters just for myself. They were fresh and briny, with a perfectly tangy mignonette and spicy remoulade to pair.
Next, our wonderful server Max gave us some great recommendations:
- Sea Bar Spoon— A tasty one bite amuse-bouche: tuna toro, truffle ikura, ponzu, sesame oil + togarashi puffed rice. Note that it’s not sharable, you’ll need one per person!
- The Avocado— Though it sounds simple, this dish packs a punch. It’s an avocado topped with crispy rice and garlic surrounded by a spicy-tangy wasabi vinaigrette.

When it came to entrées, we decided to sample a little bit of everything Sea Bar does best:
- Hamachi Crudo— Fruity, balanced + fresh! Charred cara cara orange vinaigrette, sugar snaps, grilled avocado, cilantro, crispy shallot + hamachi (amberjack)
- Maine Lobster Roll— It’s rare that I get to enjoy the delicacy of a fresh lobster roll in the South. This one features Birmingham Breadworks milk bread stuffed with lobster, chives, pickled shallots, celery, mayo, lemon + crispy Little Betty fries.
- A5 Wagyu cooked on Hot Rock— A super unique dining experience! The dish comes on a platter with a hot stone and four slices of A5 center cut striploin with a side of truffle tamari ponzu. Cook the meat yourself (it takes about seven seconds per side) and enjoy.
Unfortunately, I was too stuffed for dessert—but next time, I’m finishing my meal with the matcha milk cake.
