Reading time: 2 minutes

A new five-story multifamily apartment complex is coming to Parkside! Located on the former Sherman Industries concrete site near Railroad Park, the Sherman Multifamily building is set to bring hundreds of new apartments and amenities to one of Birmingham’s most thriving districts.
A new redevelopment is coming to Parkside

In 2022, Bham Now reported that the Birmingham City Council Economic Development and Tourism Committee approved incentives to build an $80 million mixed-use development at the former Sherman Industries concrete site near Railroad Park in Parkside.
Conceptual plans for a new multifamily project—currently dubbed Sherman Multifamily—were approved by the Birmingham Design Review Committee on Wednesday, January 14.
Here’s what we know about Sherman Multifamily

According to the conceptual plans for the structure, the Sherman Multifamily building will bring 335 new apartment units to Parkside. The five-story apartment building will be adjacent to a five-story parking garage with approximately 530 spaces.
Inside, the apartment building will include amenities like:
- A leasing office
- Package and mail rooms
- A coworking space
- Fitness and yoga studios
- Bike storage
- A clubroom
- A rooftop terrace
- A swimming pool, pavilion and other outdoor amenities
The Sherman Multifamily apartment complex will be located at 1100 2nd Avenue South, next to the Denham Building and within walking distance of Parkside attractions like:
- Urban Supply
- Monday Night Social Club
- Whammy Coffee
- Railroad Park
- Good People Brewing Co.
- Tortugas Pizza
- Regions Field
Sherman Multifamily isn’t the only redevelopment of a historic site in Parkside. Just down the street, MBA Engineers is beginning the redevelopment of the Wood Wade Building, a historic one-story warehouse on the corner of 1st Avenue South and 14th Street South in Parkside.
