Founded in Washington, D.C. [solidcore] is a high-intensity, low-impact full-body workout that focuses on strength training through muscle endurance rather than muscle hypertrophy.

Compared to a standard gym workout that focuses on high weight and low repetition, the [solidcore] workout emphasizes slow, controlled movements with lower weight and a higher amount of repetitions.

“[solidcore]’s workout emphasizes muscle endurance—think about moving boxes all day when moving houses. At the gym, you aim to expend your energy in a handful of repetitions at your max weight—like lifting a single, heavy box. At [solidcore], it’s all about finding that balance of lower weight and high repetitions to build muscle.”

Each [solidcore] class utilizes a Pilates-inspired, custom-built solidcore reformer, although the workout changes from day to day.

“One thing that sets [solidcore] apart is that we have a specified muscle focus of the day. We’re not going for buns and guns—we’re talking shoulders, outer glutes, hamstrings, triceps and other muscle groups. And that changes day-to-day; so you can bring each muscle group to failure and come back the next day for a good, solid workout.”

[solidcore] opens at The Summit on Saturday, January 10

Since its founding in 2013, [solidcore] has grown to 160+ locations in more than 30 states—but this is its first in the entire state of Alabama. To mark the occasion, [solidcore] is celebrating its grand opening on Saturday, January 10.

“We’ve got vendors coming in, giveaways every hour and classes all day. Currently, all of our classes are waitlisted; but we encourage people to show up because if there is an open spot, we’ll get you in.”
