Harpersville is getting a new family-owned meat-and-three restaurant! Main Street Kitchen is taking over Harpersville’s former Burger King at 5482 US-280.

The concept came to fruition after Chelsea resident Dallan Ruch partnered with restaurant owners Jeff and Misty Webster. This marks the Webster’s third restaurant venture together, adding to Station 31 in Chelsea and Main Street Tavern in Montevallo.

4. Korean Chicken Kitchen | Homewood

A new Asian-inspired fast-casual concept called Korean Chick Kitchen is coming to Homewood. The new Asian-inspired fast-casual concept will soon occupy the former Wendy’s building, just across from the Walmart along Lakeshore Parkway.

A new coffee shop, Bayt Al-Qahwah, is in the works in the Edgemont Town Center on Green Springs Highway.

Bayt Al-Qahwah, translated “House of Coffee,” plans to bring traditional Yemeni coffee and other cultural experiences to Greater Birmingham.

In case you didn’t know (I didn’t), Yemeni coffee tends to have a sweeter and more chocolatey flavor.

6. Cold Stone Creamery | Multiple locations

Closing

7. Birmingham Boulders | West Birmingham

After nine years in operation, Birmingham Boulders, a downtown rock climbing gym, will close its doors at the end of 2025.

The gym was notified in the summer that the landlord would be selling the building, according to the business’ Instagram announcement. The owners spent months deciding what to do and considered purchasing the property or selling the building and business together.

However, Birmingham Boulders ownership said, their business is not in the financial position for either of those to be viable options.

“This decision was not made lightly. We are truly heartbroken.

“Birmingham Boulders exists because of the community that built it, supported it and climbed here, and that community has always been at the center of everything we do.

“B2 was never just a gym — it was shaped by the people who showed up day after day and believed in what this place could be. We are deeply grateful for the years of trust, support and loyalty you have given us.”
