Trussville Sports Complex to get big upgrades—parking improvements + more
Reading time: 2 minutes

Upgrades are coming to the Trussville Sports Complex. Mayor Ben Short recently shared two updates on social media outlining a plan to improve parking, traffic flow and pedestrian safety across the park.
Here’s a look at what’s changing and how it will improve your game-day experience.
One of the biggest challenges: parking
If your game days have been filled with time spent circling Trussville’s Sports Complex, you’re not alone. According to Mayor Ben Short’s social post, parking has been an air of grievance of locals for awhile.
That’s why the city’s new plan is such good news: it will add 241 much-needed parking spaces across the complex while keeping the park’s natural feel and preserving as many trees as possible.
Here’s a breakdown of the improvements:
- Top Softball Lot: Updated traffic flow, new striping + a gravel overflow area (for 35 cars) with create 100+ additional spaces in this section.
- Top Baseball Lot: A redesigned layout will add 10+ new spaces plus a true turnaround to ease bottlenecking.
- Middle Lot (between baseball + softball): Expanded footprint + improved circulation will create 50+ new spots.
- Soccer Parking Area: A reconfigured layout will add 75+ new spaces.
Safer walkways + what’s next for Trussville’s Sports Complex
Parking isn’t the only upgrade coming to Trussville’s Sports Complex—walkability and safety are also top priorities.
The plan will lead to:
- Clearer paths to keep pedestrians away from traffic
- Improved visibility at crosswalks
- Smoother transitions between lots + fields
Field capacity is still a long-term goal, but Mayor Short said tackling parking and traffic first is a big step in the right direction.
