One easy holiday shopping getaway + gifts no one will expect
Reading time: 4 minutes

We found a holiday shopping getaway where you’ll discover unique gift-giving goodies you won’t find at home (and treat yourself to a lovely time while you’re at it).
People throughout the Magnolia State know to go about 15 minutes north of Jackson to Ridgeland, Mississippi, for some of the best shopping in the state. For folks in Birmingham, it’s absolutely worth the three-hour drive over, especially during the holiday season’s events and special deals offered through Wrap It in Ridgeland, Nov. 1 through Dec. 31.
Read on for our tips on where to shop, stay and must-do holiday events to catch during your trip.
Where to shop in Ridgeland

Although it’s a city of less than 25,000 people, Ridgeland has six primary shopping districts, from the traditional downtown feel of The Railroad District to the 65-acre, award-winning regional lifestyle center, Renaissance at Colony Park.
Even the larger, modern districts feel distinctly local to Ridgeland alongside the state’s only Apple store, Anthropologie and other brands you might expect.
“We have many locally owned shops and restaurants, which are extremely important to our tenant mix. They keep Renaissance from being a cookie-cutter center with only national brands that out-of-town visitors might have at home.”
Jan Mattiace, Mattiace Properties/Renaissance at Colony Park
Two of the many at Renaissance are Libby Story for unique women’s apparel and The Commissary, a toy store delighting kids and families for over 50 years.
Just a handful more of our favorite local shops:
👠 Arco Avenue at Township at Colony Park
💍 Allison Avery Custom Jewelry in the Railroad District
🛍️ Repeat Street & ReThreads on Highway 51
🎨 The Bill Waller Craft Center along the Natchez Trace Parkway
🎁 Pine Cone at Trace Station
🎀 For the Chic & Sassy Kids at Northpark
