One of Birmingham Metro’s busiest roads will experience traffic delays due to a lane closure on Thursday, October 9.

According to the Alabama Department of Transportation, weather permitting, lighting fixtures near the new pedestrian bridge over U.S. 31 will be installed at the north bound lanes on US-31 between Waldridge Road and Round Hill Road.

The inside lane will be closed between 8:30AM and 12:30PM at which time the outside lane will be shut down until 3:30PM.

Once completed, the new pedestrian bridge will link popular locations like Wald Park, Vestavia Hills Aquatic Complex, Library in the Forest and Boulder Canyon Trail, as well as the elementary school, Vestavia Hills Elementary West.  

Be prepared to take an alternative route on Thursday. If you must drive on this section of Montgomery Highway, expect delays and slowdowns.
