TrimTab welcomes Uproot’s Nate Darnell; new, exciting changes coming soon
Reading time: 3 minutes

Two of the biggest names in Birmingham’s brewing scene are officially teaming up! Renowned local brewer Nate Darnell recently joined forces with TrimTab Brewing’s Marc Fishel to add a unique new perspective to TrimTab’s popular lineup of beers brewed in The Magic City.
We spoke with the TrimTab team to learn more about their new team member and other exciting changes coming soon.
Nate Darnell joins the TrimTab Brewing team

Earlier this year, Uproot Brewing closed its downtown taproom at 2616 3rd Ave S. For owner Nate Darnell—who earned his brewing stripes as a brewer for Good People, Avondale and Ferus before opening Uproot—joining the TrimTab team is a thrilling new chapter in his brewing career.
“I was very excited to find this opportunity after we shifted Uproot to be just a brand. TrimTab’s brewing operations have always been creative; the brewery’s Pilot system gives us an outlet to constantly create new brews to see what works and what doesn’t. We’re excited to experiment and bring some great new products to the floor!”

Nate has already stepped in to assist TrimTab’s longtime brewer Marc Fishel, who’s been slingin’ hops at TrimTab for over ten years.
“It’s going to be a nice change of pace to have another experienced brewer around. I’ve long admired Nate’s work, so I know we’re going to have a lot of fun working together and exchanging ideas.
We have a great base product to begin with, and Nate is going to add his unique style and flair to TrimTab’s solid lineup of brews.”

New changes coming soon to TrimTab—including a fresh coat of paint

If you’ve driven past TrimTab Brewing (2721 5th Ave S) recently, you likely noticed that the familiar, faded gray has been replaced with a bold, new white and blue color scheme. According to TrimTab CEO Bill Ritter, the fresh coat of paint was a long time coming.
“The entire campus was badly in need of a paint job, and to do so we had to paint over the iconic, ‘It’s Nice to Have You in Birmingham’ mural. The good news is we plan to put that mural back up somewhere on the building after the painting is complete.”

In addition, TrimTab has remodeled the brewery’s interior with a colorful, fresh new color scheme and plans to start offering lunch via the Paradise Chow food truck starting next week.

In keeping with its goal to become more than just a brewery, TrimTab recently opened a new recording studio on campus dubbed B-Side Productions.
“In addition to expanding our dedicated live music space, The B-Side, we recently opened a recording studio next door called B-Side Productions. The new studio is now fully operational, and we’ll be able to rent out PA systems and lighting to outdoor music events of all kinds starting very soon.”
