It’s a new week in The Magic City, and that means a new roundup of businesses popping up across town. 

From a new brunch favorite joining the Cahaba Heights neighborhood to a popular pilates studio coming soon to The Summit, here are six businesses that should be on your radar.

Now Open

1. Big Bad Breakfast | Cahaba Heights

Big Bad Breakfast (BBB), a breakfast chain with locations across the South, is officially open at a new location in Vestavia Hills (and Bham Now got a special first look.)

The menu features breakfast and brunch favorites like eggs benedict, biscuits, pancakes and all kinds of coffee concoctions.

The chain has also announced plans to open another location inΒ Pelham later this year located near the Pelham Civic Center Complex in the heart of the entertainment district.

2. Well Bhm | Mountain Brook

Well Bhm, an elevated wellness destination in Mountain Brook Village opened this summer.

The menu of services makes it easy to customize your visit, with offerings like reformer pilates, cold plunges, infared sauna, IV drips and cryotherapy.

3. Buff-A-Pup Wash | Calera

A new, self-service dog washing business has opened in Calera: Buff-A-Pup Wash.

It offers space and supplies for dog owners without the resources to properly bathe their pets at home. For $13, guests have access to free shampoos and conditioners, elevated wash stations, brushes, combs, towels and dryers.

4. The Craft Room | West Homewood

The Craft Room, a new craft store and workspace in Homewood, is celebrating its grand opening on Saturday, September 20.

This creative re-use cafΓ© features lightly-used craft supplies for sale, plus space for crafting and working on projects with others. In addition, it will offer a selection of tasty beverages and snacks to fuel your creativity.

It will be located in the West Homewood neighborhood, near The Collective and Seeds Coffee.

5. Big Whiskey’s | Alabaster

All the way back in January 2024, we reported that Big Whiskey’s was planning to open its third Birmingham Metro location in Alabaster. 

Founded in Downtown Springfield, Missouri in 2006, Big Whiskey’s features a wide variety of menu items including several signature items like the famous Chicken Ranch Alfredo, The Honey Stung Burger, Boom Boom Shrimp Tacos and The Brunch Melt.Β 

On Monday, September 29, the new eatery will celebrate its official grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

6. Solidcore | The Summit

Solidcore, an Arlington, Virginia-based Pilates chain, is opening its first Alabama studio at The Summit. The brand is known for its signature 50-minute classes that deliver a high-intensity, low-impact workout on resistance-based reformers.
