New Valley Post development bringing four Pihakis restaurants to Chelsea, late 2025
Reading time: 3 minutes

In the very near future, Shelby County residents won’t have to brave U.S. 280 traffic to grab a bite at their favorite Pihakis Restaurant Group establishment. An innovative new dining and entertainment complex called Valley Post is scheduled to open in Chelsea later this year, bringing four popular restaurant brands—Hero Doughnuts, Little Donkey, Luca Lagotto and Rodney Scott’s BBQ—to the growing Shelby County community.
Valley Post bringing fan-favorite restaurants to Chelsea

Located at 1012 Dunnavant Valley Rd, just off U.S. 280, Valley Post is a new collaborative project between Capstone Real Estate Development, Mike Mouron and The Pihakis Restaurant Group (PRG). According to a press release, the new development’s proximity to the busy U.S. 280 corridor will make it a popular gathering place for families, post-work hangouts and meetups with friends.
“I have lived in Shelby County for over 40 years and have done business in this community for decades. I have watched our community grow in exciting ways and we want to enhance what is already happening here. PRG wants to place our ‘home-grown’ brands in the great communities that are outside of the immediate Birmingham area.”

Once complete, Valley Post’s six-acre campus will feature four Pihakis Restaurant Group brands:
- Hero Diner, a beloved breakfast and lunch destination offering brioche-style doughnuts, breakfast plates and sandwiches, burgers and the famous Super Crunch friend chicken sandwich as well as house-made sweets, shakes, salads, specialty coffee and adult beverages.
- Little Donkey, a 13-year-old Homewood staple known for “Mexican Food with a Southern Soul,” cocktails, shareable plates, Mexican favorites and signature specialties.
- Luca & Lucy, a “little sister” to Homewood’s popular Luca Lagotto. Under the direction of Chefs Rita Bernhardt and Paul Yeck, Luca & Lucy will serve big pizzas and red sauce-infused plates with an Italian-American flair.
- Rodney Scott’s BBQ, a traditional pit-cooked whole hog barbecue in Eastern Carolina style offering pit-cooked pork, chicken, turkey, ribs and beef alongside delicious sides, salads, beer, wine, and cocktails.

Designed in collaboration with Chambless King Architects and built by Rives Construction, each restaurant at Valley Post will feature indoor dining rooms and large outdoor patios facing a common green space with native plants and winding pathways, centered around a high-definition viewing screen for special screenings.
“Shelby County has enjoyed growth amidst the ample hills and trees, and we’re keen to provide spaces that allow families, groups, friends, and strangers alike to enjoy common areas that encourage community engagement,
