BLUEROOT closes in Pepper Place + makes way for a new sandwich shop
Reading time: 2 minutes

Pepper Place’s Blueroot has been a go-to for healthy and delicious food options since 2019. Now, it looks like the BLUEROOT location is undergoing a little rebrand.
Here’s what we know.
Goodbye, BLUEROOT + hello, The Mustard Club

Confirmed by signage on BLUEROOT’s door, the restaurant announced its closure.
But! It’s not the end for this team or Pepper Place-regulars.
The note reads:
“Lettuce turn over a new leaf!
Blueroot is closed and we are transforming into a new, neighborhood cafe. The Mustard Club is coming soon, a sandwich shop and more.
We look forward to being part of your daily routine! Stay tuned!
The Mustard Club is a new “all-day spot” brought by husband-and-wife duo Chris and Anna Newsome—the same couple behind Birmingham favorite Ollie Irene!
What to expect from The Mustard Club:
- Mornings with strong coffee + hot beignets
- Lunch features stacked sandwiches, craveable burgers + salads
- By evening, it’s aperitifs, snacks + drinks
Anticipating to open this fall, The Mustard Club will offer the classic neighborhood feel with a bit of elegance.
