On Thursday, September 11, live music and community will gather for an evening designed to turn a day of tragedy into a night of hope.

The Take the Day Back 9/11 Tribute Concert will honor the life and legacy of Army Major Dwayne Williams, an Alabama native and decorated U.S. Army Ranger and paratrooper, who lost his life during the 2001 attack on the Pentagon.

Organized by Roy Williams, Major Williams’ brother, this tribute will transform grief into purpose, raising funds for a bronze bust of Major Williams at the Alabama Fallen Warriors Monument in Trussville and the Major Dwayne Williams Memorial Scholarship at Jacksonville State University.

What to expect

Taking place at the TED, the family-friendly event will feature four performers live on the Ferus Artisan Ales stage:

  • Rob Langford as Elvis Presley—U.S. Army veteran mentored by Major Williams
  • Kimberly Harmon as Aretha Franklin—soul powerhouse bringing timeless classics
  • Loyd Watson Jr.–smooth jazz & R&B saxophonist  from Tuscaloosa
  • Da Bisycle–positive hip-hop sibling duo

There will also be plenty of food and drinks available for purchase at local eateries just steps from the stage, like:

  • Ferus Artisan Ales
  • Mr. West’s Asian Kitchen
  • Pinchgut Pies
  • And more
