Construction is beginning this Friday, Aug. 15, for a brand-new neighborhood from the Greater Birmingham Habitat for Humanity

Providence Grove will be a community that will provide affordable homeowner opportunities to some of Birmingham’s hardworking families.

The neighborhood — which will be located in Pleasant Grove — will include 27 homes built with local families, volunteers, and community partners.

“Providence Grove is more than a housing development — it’s a foundation for brighter futures. This neighborhood will create opportunities for stability, safety, and community for generations to come.”

Charles Moore, President & CEO of Greater Birmingham Habitat for Humanity

In exchange for affordable, zero-interest mortgages, homeowners will contribute 250 “sweat equity” hours, assisting in the creation of their home with Habitat for Humanity by:

  • helping with construction
  • clearing debris
  • writing thank-you cards to donors
  • participating in homeownership education
  • preparing natural disaster preparedness kits
