In February of this year, Hoover residents were saddened by the news that Habaneros Mexican Grill had closed its popular location on Montgomery Highway.
However, according to recent reports, the beloved restaurant is planning to return to Hoover this fall.
A beloved Hoover staple
When Habaneros shuttered its Hoover location, the announcement was met with an outpouring of supportive comments and shares. At the time of its closure, the restaurant had been operating for more than 20 years, garnering a community of loyal customers.
Even a petition to Reinstate Habaneros Mexican Grill for Our Community was launched on Change.org, currently sitting at 642 signatures. An excerpt from the petition reads:
“Angela and the rest of the staff were more than just employees—they were community members who became a part of our daily lives. The staff watched us all grow up, and they helped turn our good days into great days.
Habaneros Mexican Grill was not just a restaurant, it was a hub of joy and memories for all of us. Its unique ambiance, coupled with its extraordinary cuisine, gave us some insights into the beautiful Mexican culture, which built countless community-binding moments.”
