Tide great + NFL Head Coach DeMeco Ryans honored with street naming in Bessemer

Bessemer native and football great DeMeco Ryans now has a street named in his honor.
Former University of Alabama All-American and current Houston Texans Head Coach DeMeco Ryans was in town last week to see the renaming of Fairfax Avenue, the street he grew up on, to DeMeco Ryans Street.
DeMeco Ryans: NFL Head Coach giving back to Bessemer

Considered one of the NFL’s most dynamic and promising young Head Coaches, the 40- year old Ryans celebrated the honor with his family,friends, local leaders and the Bessemer High School football team.
He topped the day off participating that evening in a fundraiser with the Bessemer Chamber of Commerce called the Evening of Honor Gala. The special event recognizes local first responders and Bessmer businesses.
Ryans illustrious football career began at Jess Lanier High School in Marvel City.
He played at Alabama for Coaches Mike Shula and Nick Saban earning SEC Defensive Player of the Year in his senior year.
He was named Assistant Coach of the Year with the San Francisco 49ers and runner up for NFL Head Football Coach of the year with the Texans in 2023.
