Alabama Pharmacy, an independently-owned pharmacy in Birmingham, opened earlier this month.

Located in the Crestwood Festival Shopping Center, the new business aims to serve as a different form of pharmacy.

Brett Eisenman spent a decade working in the retail pharmacy business. In an effort to find better work/life balance, he started his own practice earlier this month.

As a veteran of the industry, Eisenman hopes Alabama Pharmacy can provide a different kind of pharmacy experience.

“My personal mantra for the pharmacy is to offer Southern hospitality and just a warm, inviting feeling. A lot of pharmacies nowadays, you go in there and it feels cold sometimes. You don’t really get that personal touch. We want to be the opposite of that.”

Alabama Pharmacy focuses on client convenience.

The pharmacy caters to clients who might have had issues getting their medication at larger chains. Alabama Pharmacy has direct contact with doctors’ offices, allowing doctors to refer clients and create better communication when it comes to prescriptions.

Operating his own pharmacy grants Eisenman greater autonomy in caring for his patients than he had with big chains, leading to that personal touch.

“The big chains outsource for a lot of the services that we offer with an in-house prior authorization, where I can now directly impact those prescriptions that are needing approval by insurance.”
