Earlier this year, Bham Now reported that Raising Cane’s, a national fried chicken restaurant with a cult following, was potentially eyeing the Birmingham area for its next location. Last week, that rumor was confirmed by representatives of the chain—Raising Cane’s will be opening its first Birmingham location on Highway 280.

The new chicken joint will be at the former site of Lloyd’s Restaurant, a longtime anchor on Highway 280 which closed in 2023 and was demolished shortly after.

6. Big Bad Breakfast | Cahaba Heights

Just last month, Big Bad Breakfast opened another new location as part of the city’s new redevelopment on Montgomery Highway near the I-65 exit.

Closing

7. Post Office Pies | Lane Parke

Post Office Pies is closing its last location in Mountain Brook on Sunday, June 29.

Last year, the pizza joint earned a spot on the New York Times’ list of the best pizza spots in America. According to a statement made via Instagram by Post Office Pies co-owner John Hall, the difficult decision was made due to increased rent in the Lane Parke area, which would have cost the pizzeria more than $14,000 per month.

If you loved Post Office Pies, be sure to give them a visit before the end of the month.
