Atlantic Aviation begins $40M redevelopment at BHM Airport

Atlantic Aviation has launched a $40 million redevelopment project at its Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) Fixed Based Operator (FBO) location.

According to a BHM release, the aviation company currently serves general aviation, private pilots, charter and corporate customers at Alabama’s largest airport and offers a variety of aviation services from storing and moving aircraft to fueling and ground handling flights.

At the Thursday, June 5 ground-breaking ceremony, Atlantic Aviation CEO Jeff Foland told participants BHM and his company are building a world-class private aviation campus. 

“This will 100% without question be the newest flagship we have in the network. This will be a world-class, innovative, the most modern, contemporary, complete, private aviation campus across all of the 105 campuses that we have in North America.”

Project highlights include:

  • 7.545 sq.ft. executive terminal
  • Two 30,000 sq.ft. hangers, with a shop and office space
  • 7 acres of newly expanded ramp

The redevelopment will also implement several eco-friendly initiatives, including: 

  • Utilization of recycled materials throughout the construction
  • Installation of high-efficiency HVAC, lighting, and plumbing fixtures
  • New hangars will have solar panels to offset their energy usage

The redevelopment is scheduled for completion in early 2027.
