It’s a new week in The Magic City, and that means a new roundup of businesses popping up across town.

From a glamorous new Tex-Mex café and lounge in Lakeview to a popular coffee chain in Trussville, here are seven businesses that should be on your radar.

Now Open

1. El Royale Café | Lakeview

El Royale Café, which opened over the weekend, offers classic Tex-Mex dishes in a moody, European-inspired garden space in Birmingham’s historic Lakeview District (and we got a sneak peek to see what makes this new place something special.)

The restaurant is owned by celebrated photographer Miller Mobley, an Alabama native and photographer known for his celebrity portraiture.

Currently, El Royale Café’s dining room is available by reservation, while bar seating is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. The outdoor garden will open with beverage service only, with full dining to follow.

2. Songbird Salon | Avondale

Say hello to Songbird Salon, now open in the former Arcadia Salon space on Avondale’s 41st Street South.

Owner Karen Blackmon has been doing hair professionally for nearly 20 years, spending the majority of her career at Salon U in Homewood.

3. Ellianos | Trussville

Ellianos Coffee, the popular specialty coffee chain, has opened its first location in the Birmingham metro area.

The new double-sided drive-thru coffee spot, which opened on May 19th in Trussville, serves hot or iced coffees, handcrafted espresso and frozen coffee drinks.

4. Laura Lane Salon | Mountain Brook

Laura Lane Salon recently celebrated its opening in Mountain Brook Village, located next to Davenport’s Pizza. The high-end salon is owned by Matt Hill and Scott Terry, who operate as lead stylist and creative director, respectively.

Inspired by the posh salons of London, their team of independent stylists offer cuts, color, highlights and more.

5. Unbothered Scoops | Bessemer

Unbothered Scoops, a uniquely designed shop focused on creating a relaxing and stress-free environment, opened over the Memorial Day weekend in Bessemer.

Alongside sweets like ice cream and pound cake, the shop features tons of outdoor space, moonwalks and a mini golf course.

Coming Soon

6. Pink Lantern | Downtown Birmingham

Whether you’re a coffee connoisseur, a cocktail lover or just looking for a new favorite hangout, there’s a new spot in Birmingham that should be on your radar. Created by partners Clay Freeman and Danny Le, Pink Lantern is a vibrant new concept bringing something unique (and pink) to the Magic City.

By day, you’ll find a cozy, colorful café specializing in Vietnamese coffee—a nod to Danny’s heritage and half of the reason the duo chose the name Pink Lantern. By night, the venue will transform into a charming and elegant cocktail bar.

Coffee tables will be moved to make way for chic dance floor, which opens up in front of an elevated stage perfect for themed events, drag brunch shows and other creative events.

7. Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming | Vestavia Hills

A new pet supply and grooming spot is coming to Vestavia Hills. Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming offers expert grooming services with a gourmet bakery stocked with gourmet, all-natural treats and premium pet food options.

The shop will be located in the former Papa Murphy’s near Lifetime Fitness off Acton Road.
